Prime Minister Askar Mamin meets with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov

Today in Ashgabat, Prime Minister Askar Mamin met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The parties noted the high dynamics of development and the presence of great potential for further building up bilateral cooperation in the economic sphere.

Despite the quarantine measures and the current situation in the world, the level of trade between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan has maintained a steady growth — the trade turnover in January-July 2020 increased by 10% to about $100 million. The volume of railway cargo transit through the territory of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan increased by 55% in 2020.

During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of cooperation in trade, economic, investment, energy, transit, transport and agricultural spheres. Particular attention is paid to the prospects for the development of cross-border cooperation between the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan and the Balkan velayat of Turkmenistan, including through the creation of a Special zone of border trade on the border of the two countries.

During his visit to Ashgabat, Prime Minister Mamin also held separate talks with Deputy Heads of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Raşit Meredov, Bayramgeldy Ovezov and Myratgeldy Meredov, during which practical measures to further deepen economic cooperation were considered.
