Prime Minister Askar Mamin discusses proposals for reforming economy with participants of El Umiti project 

Today the Prime Minister Askar Mamin chaired a meeting with the participants of the Program for Training Industry Leaders in Change Management, which was implemented within the framework of the Elbasy’s initiative ‘’El Umiti" and was aimed at the high-quality implementation of the Plan of the Nation "100 Concrete Steps.’’ 

The event was attended by Assistant to the President - Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan Asset Issekeshev and about 300 specialists – mentors and teams of change managers, whose leaders presented new approaches and ideas for solving 37 specific problems in 11 areas of public policy: education, geological exploration, trade and logistics, industry, including new industries, construction, regional development, healthcare, media, agriculture, tourism and water resources. 

The prime minister noted that the selection of the program participants was carried out in accordance with the main directions of the government's work for the medium term: increasing the self-sufficiency of the national economy, the formation of Kazakhstan as a regional food hub, the development of new approaches to attracting high-quality investments, the creation of a strong entrepreneurial class, the active promotion of Kazakhstani exports, ensuring accelerated digitalization, development of education and advanced science, strengthening of the health care system, further comprehensive building up of infrastructure.

“Investments in education and human development are the main factor for sustainable and long-term economic growth. A person stands behind every successful idea, practice, reform. Each of you has the potential, professional knowledge and, most importantly, the desire to make a personal contribution to the prosperity of Kazakhstan,” Mamin said.

The head of government instructed the members of the government to pay special attention to regular working meetings with their sectoral teams and provide the necessary assistance in the implementation of the tasks.

“It is necessary to concretize the proposals and develop clear plans for their implementation,” Mamin stressed. 

The Program for Training Industry Leaders in Change Management was initiated by the Nursultan Nazarbayev Foundation and is being implemented jointly with the Project Office of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The goal of the program is to develop specific proposals for the transformation of key sectors of the economy. Following the results of the competition conducted at the beginning of this year, out of 2,958 applicants, 230 experts with extensive practical experience, including in leading national and foreign organizations, were selected. More than 50 specialists from both the public and private sectors of Kazakhstan, the United States and European countries participate in the program as mentors. 

Participants of the program not only contribute to the development of the country by solving sectoral problems, but also improve their sectoral and leadership competences during training and coaching events.
