Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov met with Chair of EEC Board Mikhail Myasnikovich

Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held talks with the Chair of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich within the framework of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

During the meeting, the preparation of the draft Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025, the improvement of the unified base of technical regulation within the EAEU, as well as the issues of holding the upcoming meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council were discussed.

According to Smailov, the focus on mutually beneficial solutions is consistent with the spirit of the Organization, which has shown a significant increase in mutual trade over the period of its functioning.

Thus, over the period of the functioning of the EAEU, mutual trade between Kazakhstan and partners increased by 37.5%, incl. export by 33%.

“We have a lot of work to do to implement integration projects together with cooperation enterprises in various sectors, primarily in industry. Last year, Kazakhstan was the chairman of the statutory bodies of the EAEU. Our Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the beginning of last year outlined the priority areas of our chairmanship in the organization, it can be said with confidence that through joint efforts these areas, which were indicated in the President’s address, were successfully implemented at that stage and continue to be implemented this year,” Smailov.

Trade turnover between Kazakhstan and the EAEU countries for 2021 amounted to $26.1 billion, which is 28% higher than in 2020. Exports from Kazakhstan to the EAEU countries for 2021 increased by 34.9% and amounted to $7.6 billion. Imports to Kazakhstan from the EAEU countries for 2021 increased by 25.4% and amounted to $18.4 billion.

In turn, the Chair of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich noted the well-coordinated work of the Kazakh side, emphasizing that all issues of the current meeting of the EPMS will be considered in the prescribed manner. There is a lot of work to be done to develop cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration Zhanel Kushukova, Deputy Head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidyn Karimov and Head of the Secretariat of the Chair of the EEC Board Vladimir Zinovsky.
