Sixty-one million tons of coal delivered to domestic market of Kazakhstan

At a briefing in the press center of the Government, Chairman of the Committee for Industrial Development and Industrial Safety of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development Kanat Baitov spoke about the current state of coal supply for the public utility sector and the population.

According to current data, as of Oct. 30, 2019, 89 million tons of coal were produced, which is 98% compared to the same period last year.

Coal supply to the domestic market of the country for this period amounted to 61 million tons, including:

  • 46 million tons of coal were shipped to energy-producing enterprises;
  • 5.6 million tons of coal were shipped to industrial enterprises;
  • 9.2 million tons of coal were shipped for household needs and the population.

Before the start of the heating season, a plan for the need for coal products for household needs and for the population for 2019-2020 was formed with the local executive bodies. According to estimates, this year it is planned to consume 10.5 million tons. Of these, 2.7 million tons — for household needs, 7.7 — consumption by the population.

The ministry monitors the implementation of the Coal Security Plan on a weekly basis.

As of Oct. 30, 2019, the municipal sector was provided with coal reserves in relation to the general plan by 92.2%, the population — by 76.1%.

Akimats of Aktobe, Zhambyl, East Kazakhstan, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, Pavlodar regions, the cities of Almaty and Shymkent fully provided a schedule for the annual supply of coal for the municipal sector.

Kanat Baitov commented on the situation of non-fulfillment of the contract for the supply of Shubarkol coal by the trader of Ideal-Trade LLP in the Akmola region. So, according to him, the problem is resolved, shipping goes according to plan in a two-shift mode. For the period from Oct. 25 to 30, 2019, only at the request of Ideal-Trade LLP, 14 wagons or about 950 tons of coal were shipped to the Aktobe region.

In addition, in order to increase the throughput capacity of coal pick-up at Shubarkol open-cast mine, an additional weight was launched, this made it possible to increase shipping for the population.

“On board the mine, the shipment of coal by self is carried out in order of priority. As of Oct. 30, 2019, the queue is about 50-60 trucks. Today, the total volume of shipment of self-delivery per day is about 3600 tons,” the chairman of the committee informed.

However, he said that shipment by rail is carried out according to the requests of suppliers.

At the Karazhira section, the volume of shipment of self-delivery per day is about 1,600 tons. The line for self-delivery of coal is about 30-35 trucks. In addition, to increase coal shipping, the company Karazhyra JSC purchased a new high-performance equipment: 6 mining trucks, each carrying capacity is 220 tons, 2 excavators (bucket volume 23 m³), which allowed to increase the volume of coal shipping up to 8 million tons.

At Maikuben-West LLP, the volume of shipment of self-delivery per day is about 2500 tons. The line for self-delivery of coal is about 20-30 trucks. In addition, Maikuben-West LLP purchased imported processing equipment to increase the shipment of high-quality coal for the population.

At Bogatyr open pit, the volume of shipment of self-delivery per day is about 1,500 tons. The line for coal pick-up is about 20-25 trucks. Shipment by rail is carried out according to the requests of suppliers.
