At the Government session chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev reported that the situation on the roads and railways of the country during the flood period remains stable.

The preventive measures taken allowed to avoid destruction of transport infrastructure. On the republican highways 227 new culverts have been installed, 302 more are in the process of installation.

Overhaul of four bridges in the East Kazakhstan region on the Ust-Kamenogorsk - Rakhmanovskie Klyuchi road has been completed. In 2025, overhauls of two more bridges are being completed in Akmola region along the route Zhaksy - Yesil - Buzuluk and in Kostanai region along the route Kostanay - Auliekol - Surgan. 

Cleaning of more than 8 thousand pipes from snow and ice allowed to ensure unimpeded flow of melt water. In the risk areas, protective ramparts were promptly built, signalling signs were installed, and bags with inert material were laid.

Marat Karabayev noted that as a result of the measures taken, the flood period passes in normal mode. Only 17 cases of melt water overflow across the carriageway were registered, which is 8 times less compared to last year. In the same period of 2024, 137 cases of overflow were recorded, and for the whole flood period there were 178. In addition, on the republican highways it was possible to avoid erosion of the roadbed and artificial structures.

Round-the-clock observation of all dangerous sites and structures continues. About 1 thousand special vehicles are fixed.

The railway network is also provided with stable traffic. 83 water reservoirs and dams located above the railway bed have been checked. Drilling and blasting operations on ice crushing and snow avalanches downing were carried out at six railway distances. At present, melt water passage is carried out in the normal mode through artificial structures. Control over 673 flood-hazardous sites is carried out. In some directions in Akmola and Kostanay regions, short-term measures were taken to suspend traffic and launch an anti-flooding train.
