As part of the Head of State’s instructions to increase the share of domestic production in the pharmaceutical sector, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved an Investment Agreement between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Khimfarm JSC for the project “Ensuring More Affordable Medicines for the Population and Increasing the Share of Domestic Pharmaceutical Production in the Republic of Kazakhstan.”
As part of the implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to increase the share of domestic production in the pharmaceutical industry to 50%, a major strategic investment project will be implemented in Kazakhstan. The corresponding resolution has been signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
At the Government session, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov noted the ongoing work to stimulate the inflow of funds into the domestic pharmaceutical industry, within which investment agreements are being concluded.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Jerzy Starak, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Polpharma Group, who visited Astana to participate in the 37th Plenary Session of the Foreign Investors’ Council.
A working meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Kosherbayev, was held to discuss the reform of the country’s pharmaceutical supply system. The discussion was prompted by the findings of a state audit conducted by the Supreme Audit Chamber (SAC).
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov participated in the VII Kazakhstan Roundtable on Global Investment (KGIR-2024). More than 500 representatives of business, including heads of leading international and Kazakhstani companies in agriculture, food industry, energy and mining industries, financial sector, as well as representatives of domestic entrepreneurship, investors gathered at the site.
At the Government session, Minister of Healthcare Akmaral Alnazarova reported on the measures taken to support domestic manufacturers of pharmaceutical products.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov during the Government session outlined a number of tasks to develop the pharmaceutical industry and support Kazakhstani manufacturers.
As part of a working trip to Zhambyl region, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov visited a medical outpatient clinic in the village of Shaikoryk, built under the National Project "Modernisation of Rural Health Care", and familiarised himself with the activities of the Super-pharm plant for the production of medical devices in the village of Aisha-bibi near the regional centre.
Deputy Minister of Healthcare Zhandos Burkitbayev reported on the development of the pharmaceutical industry in the country at the Government session. The department has set a task to bring the share of domestically produced drugs to 50% of the domestic market by 2029.
