Tamara Duisenova meets with Kazakhstan Chess Federation President

Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Tamara Duisenova met with the President of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation Timur Turlov. The head of the association spoke about the results of activities for 2023 and shared plans for the next year.

Since the beginning of the year, the Federation held 30 national and international tournaments, which were attended by more than 5.5 thousand people. For the first time in history, the World Championship among school teams was held. It gathered about 400 participants from 53 countries of the world. Also, 23 Kazakhstani chess players were given grant support, 89 were paid bonuses. 

"We pay great attention to the popularization of chess within the country and its promotion in the regions. A large-scale project "Chess Caravan" was organized specially for this purpose. For 2 months, tournaments among amateurs in lightning chess were held in 20 cities. More than a thousand people took part in the project, and the total prize fund of the project amounted to 16 million tenge. Also within the framework of this initiative, the Federation's representative offices were opened in all regions. It is important that in all endeavors there is a huge state support both at the republican and local levels. For this I would like to express my gratitude and declare our readiness to continue further work and cooperation," Timur Turlov said.

In turn, Tamara Duisenova noted the high achievements of domestic grandmasters, who have performed with honor in the international arena. Now Kazakhstan's chess team is rightly considered one of the strongest.

"All-round development of youth is important for the state. I express my gratitude to you and the domestic federation for the work done in this direction. Now the bill on sports is being considered. The document will allow us to regulate the work on financing of sports, activities of branch federations. The state is interested in the development of mass sports and popularization of physical culture," Tamara Duisenova stressed.
