Investment forum dedicated to investor rights protection held in Astana

Astana hosted an investment forum organised with the assistance of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan and the European Business Association of Kazakhstan (EUROBAK).

The main purpose of the event was to discuss current approaches and practices in judicial administration related to investment processes. Special attention was paid to the analysis of judicial practice in tax and customs spheres, as well as subsoil use issues.

Roman Sklyar, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Aslambek Mergaliev, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, made welcoming remarks at the opening of the forum. The speakers emphasised the importance of the forum in the context of the development of investment attractiveness and legal protection of investors in Kazakhstan.

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted the relevance of the event in the current conditions and emerging challenges in the global economy. As Chairman of the Investment Attraction Council (Investment Headquarters) under the Government of Kazakhstan, he also emphasised the important role of this institution in ensuring transparent and prompt decision-making on investor issues.

In addition, Roman Sklyar emphasised that as part of the work to improve the investment environment, special attention is paid to systematic control and monitoring of investor issues.

In this context, he drew attention to the launch of the National Digital Investment Platform, which aims to digitalise investment attraction processes and increase the efficiency of investment interaction.

Also discussed at the forum were issues related to the calculation of taxation, problems of tax administration, methods of determining customs value, as well as different approaches in definitions and terminology that may affect law enforcement and the investment climate.

The forum became a platform for active exchange of views and experience aimed at minimising investment risks and resolving contentious issues through judicial and administrative procedures. The participants identified key areas of work with investors to improve judicial practice and protect their interests.

The event was attended by investors and business representatives, as well as leading experts in investment, law and economics.

At the conclusion of the forum, specific ways and proposals were outlined to improve the investment attractiveness of Kazakhstan, including through strengthening the legal protection of investors, improving the legal framework and judicial procedures.
