In Kazakhstan, incidence rate decreased by 23% in past two weeks

Tuesday, 16 November 2021, 10:22:06

At the government session chaired by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the country was considered.

As the Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alexey Tsoy reported, more than 254 million cases of CVI have been registered in the world, more than 340 thousand cases are registered per day. More than 5 million people have died. According to the WHO European Region, an increase in incidence has been observed in 36 countries out of 54 countries over the past two weeks. Over the past 14 days, the largest increase in the incidence was noted in Hungary, Austria, Poland, Germany.

A decrease in the increase in morbidity is noted in 14 EuroWHO countries, including Israel by 48%, in Moldova by 28%, in Kyrgyzstan by 23%, Armenia by 22%, Great Britain by 18%, in Estonia by 16% and in Belarus by 3%.

“In Kazakhstan, the incidence rate has decreased by 23% over the past two weeks. According to the world ranking of 222 countries, Kazakhstan ranks 105th in terms of morbidity, and 101st in terms of mortality. Today, 2 regions remain in the red zone (Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan). Five regions are in the yellow zone (Karaganda, Kostanay, Akmola, Atyrau and Nur-Sultan). The Republic of Kazakhstan and the other 10 regions are in the green zone. The reproductive number is 0.96,” Tsoy informed.

In general, in Kazakhstan over the past two months, the incidence rate has decreased by 3.8 times, and the mortality rate by 2.4 times. In the republic from Aug. 1, 2021, there is a decrease in the employment rate of infectious beds from 56 to 30%, and of intensive care beds from 45 to 27%.

There is a positive trend towards a decrease in the number of those continuing treatment; over the past three months, the number of patients has decreased by 2.6 times (from 90,767 to 34,068 patients). At the same time, vaccination of the population against CVI continues.

“1-component vaccinated more than 8.5 million people, coverage of the subject adult population was 75.1% or 45.3% of the population, the second component vaccinated about 7.8 million people, covering 68.8% of the subject population, or 41.5% of the population,” Tsoy said.

According to the world ranking of 207 countries where vaccination against coronavirus infection is carried out, Kazakhstan ranks 104th in terms of coverage of the population with two doses of vaccination against CVI and has reached vaccination coverage of more than 41.5% of the population.

Among the CIS countries, only Kazakhstan, Russia and Azerbaijan have achieved a vaccination coverage rate of over 40%.

“Kazakhstan received the first batch of Comirnaty (Pfizer) vaccine in the amount of 379 thousand doses. Delivery of the second batch is scheduled for Nov. 20. Vaccination has begun in 7 regions of the republic, these are Zhambyl, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, Turkistan, Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Shymkent. To date, 1,313 children and 247 pregnant and lactating women have been vaccinated,” the Minister of Healthcare said.

According to the instructions of the Interdepartmental Commission to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a draft Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the possibility of selling the vaccine against COVID-19 Comirnaty (Pfizer) on the commercial market was developed.

The morbidity analysis showed that the bulk of the sick and patients with severe CVI falls on the unvaccinated population. So, the proportion of unvaccinated sick people to the number of registered patients with CVI since Feb. 1 is almost 95%, while vaccinated citizens fell ill only 5%. A similar situation is developing with the number of patients on artificial lung ventilation, among whom almost 96% are unvaccinated. The presented data once again clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of vaccination.

“In this regard, once again I want to appeal to the population and urge citizens who have not yet been vaccinated to make the right decision in favor of vaccination. This will allow us all to preserve not only our health, but also the health of our loved ones and colleagues,” Tsoy summed up.
