Year of Vocational Professions: awards presented on behalf of the President to employees and veterans of Kazakhstan’s energy sector
On the eve of Power Engineer’s Day, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, on behalf of the President of Kazakhstan, congratulated employees and veterans of the sector on their professional holiday and presented state awards.
“The Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has set us the strategic task of ensuring energy security. The effective operation of production facilities, the development of small and medium-sized businesses, the stability of the utilities sector, and the quality of life of our citizens depend, above all, on the dedicated work of energy sector specialists. Within the framework of the Year of Working Professions declared by the President, special attention in Kazakhstan is given to people of labor. Your professionalism and dedication deserve the deepest respect. Thanks to you, important production and technological results have been achieved,” Olzhas Bektenov emphasized.
The Prime Minister noted key achievements in the energy sector, which currently employs more than 53,000 specialists, including linemen, electricians, engineers, operators, and representatives of other professions.
The Unified Energy System of the Republic of Kazakhstan operates in a stable mode as a major infrastructure complex. This year, electricity generation is expected to increase to more than 122 billion kilowatt-hours (in 2024 – 117.9 billion kilowatt-hours).
As a result of large-scale work on the modernization and development of the electric power sector carried out on the instruction of the President, the design capacity and reliability of energy-producing enterprises have increased, and the average level of wear of thermal power plants has been reduced to 61%. The “Tariff in Exchange for Investment” program has ensured a real inflow of capital into the generation sector. Thus, only this year, about 350 billion tenge has been allocated for the modernization of power plants. Projects have been launched to strengthen the power grid of the Southern Zone and to integrate the energy systems of Western Kazakhstan with the Unified National Energy System.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the outgoing year has become a year of qualitative changes, including in the energy sector. The common task is to preserve and multiply the accumulated experience.
