Grain forwarding companies of Kazakhstan cover growing demand for transport in export

Today at the press center of the Government during the press conference on the results of the activities of JSC “KTZh-Cargo Transportation” for 10 months of 2017, the first vice-president of JSC “Astyk Trans” Sergei Mosolkin told about the current situation in the transportation of Kazakh grain in all domestic and export directions, and shared the forecast for the upcoming season.

The company, established in 2013 as a joint venture of JSC “Kaztemirtrans” and JSC “Rusagrotrans”, Russia's largest operator of grain wagons, taking into account the leased fleet, to date, has 5200 wagons.

"Traditionally, we provide our fleet with 90% of all domestic grain shipments and 50% of export shipments in hopper wagons. Other transportation is provided by other owners of the rolling stock," Sergei Mosolkin said.

For transportation of grain, according to the assessment of JSC "NC KTZh", in Kazakhstan, there is a park of about 9000-9700 units. In general, the availability of grain trucks is at an adequate level for the transportation of Kazakh grain.

According to the first vice-president of JSC "Astyk Trans", this season has its own characteristics. First, it began earlier — in early September, and secondly, a high amount of crop was harvested. In addition, part of the Russian park, which previously operated in Kazakhstan, returned to Russia. In this regard, a heavy load laid on the Kazakhstan carriers.

So, in October the company transported 95% of domestic traffic and 55% of export traffic from all transportation of Kazakh grain.

"Under such conditions, it is important for consignors to plan their shipments in advance, order wagons based on loading capacities, and control the quality of the products," the speaker said.

According to forecasts, in terms of maximum grain transportation, season is going to be long. In October, the whole railway transported 850 thousand tons of grain.

President of KTZh-Cargo Transportation, Oralkhan Kulakov, in his turn noted that recently there has been an increase in exports to distant countries such as Italy, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, which led to an increase in the transportation range and, accordingly, growth of the demand for grain trucks and covered wagons.

Transportation of grain in the direction of the ports has sharply increased. Growth occurred in the direction of the ports of the Caspian and Black Seas. Record harvests are collected in Russia and Ukraine, where today there are difficulties in the market of grain and flour transportation.

"We are working on attracting an additional park from neighboring railway administrations," O. Kulakov said.

For effective work in each region, akimats set up staffs for coordination of actions for the transportation of grain and flour.

Also JSC "KTZH-Cargo Transportation" is working on the introduction of new technologies in the transportation of grain. So in October this year, a pilot project was carried out for the transportation of grain in containers along the new route "Kuryk-Alyat-Akhalkalaki-Kars-Mersin". In the future, it is planned to transport up to 10 thousand tons of grain per month in this direction.
