Yerzhan Babakumarov: The Era of Independence is a story about realization of dream of the people of Kazakhstan

A presentation of The Era of Independence written by the President Nursultan Nazarbayev was held in Astana. The presentation of the valuable historical document is timed to the Independence Day of Kazakhstan.

Particular attention in the book is given to the disclosure of the stages of construction of a new Kazakhstan, the analysis of internal logic and decision-making mechanisms in response to the complex internal and external challenges of the first decades of independence, and the importance of the political will on specific examples.

"It's not just a book. This is the view of the President Nursultan Nazarbayev on the history of the country and its future. An impressive analysis of the events that took place over 26 years is given: not only facts, but also interpretation, accents," Yerzhan Babakumarov, Deputy Head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said during the book presentation ceremony.

According to Yerzhan Babakumarov, the value of the knowledge fixed in the book is that they are given by a person who himself was not only a participant, but also a creator of the history of Kazakhstan. Therefore, the book becomes an important document of the era, which will always be in demand.

The book clearly reflects the essence of Kazakhstan's development model: its evolution, basic principles, mechanisms and driving forces. Consideration of three waves of modernization of Kazakhstan takes a big place.

"The President gives his vision of our history and state building as three successive waves of modernization," E. Babakumarov said.

Thanks to the First and Second Modernizations, the tasks of dismantling the totalitarian system and building a market economy, prescheduled joining the world’s top 50 most competitive countries were successfully accomplished. The Third Modernization is aimed at a comprehensive renewal of the country and its advancement to the top 30 most developed countries in the world in the new global reality.

A special attention is paid to the measures taken by the Elbasy in response to the newest global challenges. They include the Nurly Zhol anti-crisis Plan for large-scale infrastructure works, Five Institutional Reforms to strengthen the state in the most difficult period of the global crisis – the Nation’s Plan, as well as the Third Modernization of Kazakhstan in a new stage of state building.

According to the speaker, The Era of Independence is a book not only about the past years, it is aimed at the future: it gives principles on which the country can go further.

"The book contains invaluable experience of practical government and strategic planning. And in this respect it is a kind of national platform for optimism and confidence in the future," Y. Babakumarov  summed up.

Also, in the course of the book presentation ceremony, the first deputy chairman of the Nur Otan Party, M. Kul-Mukhammed, a member of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, B. Zhumagulov, the deputy head of the Secretariat of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan, L. Prokopenko, the deputy director of the Kazakhstan Institute of Strategic Studies under the President, S. Kushkumbayev, chairman of the Board of Egemen Kazakhstan JSC, D. Kydyrali, rector of the Eurasian National University named after L. N. Gumilyov, Y. Sydykov gave speeches.
