Interest in privatization in Kazakhstan increased significantly — B. Sholpankulov

Today at a press conference in the press center of the Government, Vice Minister of Finance Berik Sholpankulov spoke on the progress of privatization within the eighth direction of the President's Address "Effective Public Administration".

According to Berik Sholpankulov, currently the Comprehensive Privatization Plan for 2016-2020 includes 904 facilities. During the last two years of privatization, 476 facilities of the Comprehensive Plan were put up, including 367 facilities for the amount of 164 billion tenge. In addition, 255 facilities are in the process of reorganization and liquidation.

"In general, taking into account the reorganized and liquidated facilities, the execution of the Comprehensive Privatization Plan is 71%. In 2017, 463 facilities were planned for realization. The plan was implemented at 97%," Berik Sholpankulov said.

As the Vice Minister of Finance noted, in 2017 work was started with top facilities, implementation of which is envisaged in a special order. 23 top objects were planned for sale, including 20 objects of national holding and 3 objects of republican property. Of these, 11 are currently sold, 12 are under sale and negotiation with potential buyers.

The total selling price of top facilities amounted to 61 billion tenge, which is 20% higher than their book value and 8% higher than their estimated value.

According to the financial department, interest in the ongoing privatization has increased significantly. The number of the trading platform visitors has increased by 12%. In addition, the competition in the auction increased — the average number of participants in one trade is about 4-5, whereas previously there were no more than 3.

Let's remind that in the January Address of the Head of the State "New Opportunities for Development in the Conditions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution", ten directions of work were defined. The eighth direction — Effective Public Administration — contains tasks for the accelerated implementation of the privatization plan.
