On the instructions of the Head of State under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, a Government Commission was established to investigate the causes and elimination of consequences of the accident at the Kostenko mine of JSC "ArcelorMittal Temirtau" in Karaganda region.

It includes First Deputy Minister Roman Sklyar, Ministers for Emergency Situations Syrym Sharipkhanov, Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov, Healthcare Azhar Giniyat, Labor and Social Protection Svetlana Zhakupova, Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev, representatives of law enforcement agencies, the Akimat of Karaganda region, labor inspection, coal miners' union "Korgau", etc. 

A comprehensive investigation of the causes of a group accident due to a fire at the mine will be conducted. Along with this, measures will be taken to assess the damage caused, to provide priority assistance to the victims and families of the victims. 

We also inform that the Government has reached a preliminary agreement with the shareholders of JSC "ArcelorMittal Temirtau" and is finalizing the transaction on the transfer of ownership of the enterprise in favor of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
