Alikhan Smailov meets with Uzbekistan President in Tashkent

On Friday, May 5, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met in Tashkent.

Alikhan Smailov conveyed warm words of welcome from the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and noted that the interaction between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is a vivid example of strategic partnership based on trust and mutual understanding. In particular, the governments of the two countries are under special control of the implementation of agreements reached as a result of recent talks at the highest level. 

The Prime Minister also informed of the outcome of the 20th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, where the sides discussed in detail the cooperation in industry, agriculture, energy, environment, transit and transport sector, etc. Agreements were reached to continue work on expanding the range of goods in mutual trade and launching new investment and cooperation projects. 

The parties stressed the importance of construction of the Central Asia International Center for Industrial Cooperation on the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border, which will give an impetus to effective industrial cooperation between the two countries. 

At the end of the meeting, readiness to continue active work for progressive development of interstate cooperation was indicated.
