The visit of a representative Kazakh delegation headed by First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar to Germany continued with a visit to Munich, the capital of the federal state of Bavaria.
Within the framework of the visit Roman Sklyar met with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy, Regional Development and Energy of Bavaria Hubert Aivanger and Bavarian Minister for International Cooperation and Europe Eric Baisvenger.
At the meeting with E. Baisvenger, which took place in the building of the Bavarian state government, the issues of development of cooperation between the governments of Kazakhstan and Bavaria were discussed.
For his part, E. Baisvenger emphasised the high interest of Bavaria in further expansion of comprehensive business and humanitarian ties with Kazakhstan and expressed readiness to support relevant initiatives.
During the meeting with H. Aivanger, the parties exchanged views on the state of trade and economic relations between Kazakhstan and Bavaria, as well as discussed the prospects for their further development.
Х. Eivanger noted the impressive development of Kazakhstan, as well as progress in the diversification of its economy, which offers good opportunities for Bavarian companies. In particular, the complementarity of the economies of Kazakhstan and Bavaria was noted, which causes a high interest of business in the development of mutually beneficial co-operation.
An important step in this context will be the launch of a direct flight Shymkent-Munich at the end of May 2025.
In addition, R. Sklyar and H. Eivanger made presentations at the round table on ‘Kazakhstan-Bavarian Business Dialogue. Kazakhstan as a partner in industrial and agricultural technologies and logistics’. About 70 heads of Bavarian enterprises attended the event.
Representatives of such companies as Horsch, Linde Gas AG and Rhenus shared their experience of doing business and business development in Kazakhstan, as well as their opinion on financial and business opportunities in the country.
In his speech, H. Eivanger praised the close economic ties of the federal state of Bavaria with Kazakhstan. According to him, Kazakhstan today is the first trading partner of Bavaria among the CIS countries and the Central Asian region.
Р. Sklyar also held talks with Bertram Brossardt, chairman of the business association ‘Union of Bavarian Economy’, which co-organised the round table.
Bavaria is the leading federal state in terms of economic development. In 2024, its GDP will amount to about $800 billion, (Germany - 4.5 trillion), which would put it in 22nd place in the world, ahead of such countries as Argentina, South Africa, UAE, Sweden, Israel, Austria, Belgium.
According to German statistics, trade with Bavaria in 2024 reached €4.7bn, which corresponds to almost half of the total trade volume between Kazakhstan and Germany. Oil of Kazakhstani origin provides half of Bavaria's oil imports.
While Kazakhstan ranks 43rd in the list of trade partners for Germany, for Bavaria it ranks 21st. In terms of imports to Bavaria, Kazakhstan is even in 15th place, which is higher than, for example, Belgium, Turkey, Japan, Vietnam and South Korea.
