Business ties expansion and realization of joint projects between Kazakhstan and Germany discussed at Roman Sklyar and Volker Treier meeting

Prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany were discussed during the meeting of First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar with the Head of Foreign Trade of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry Volker Treier.

At the meeting the parties discussed spheres and perspective directions for further strengthening and deepening of economic cooperation, as well as joint investment projects realized on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Roman Sklyar noted that Kazakhstan pays special attention to improving the investment climate. He called Germany one of the most important partners of Kazakhstan in the European Union and expressed interest in further deepening cooperation in such priority areas as energy, industry, transportation and logistics.

In turn, Volker Treier noted that Kazakhstan is the main partner for Germany in Central Asia. According to German statistics, trade turnover between the countries increased by 90.2% in 2022 and reached a total of € 9.7 billion. Kazakhstan's exports to Germany also increased by 86.5% and amounted to € 6.9 billion. Volker Treier noted that the countries have great potential for expanding and deepening economic cooperation.

First Deputy Prime Minister also took part in the Kazakhstan-Germany business forum, organized by the Representative Office of the German Economy in Central Asia, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Germany with the support of NC KAZAKH INVEST JSC. 

The forum included discussion of prospects and opportunities for further development and expansion of business relations and promotion of bilateral trade, as well as discussion of specific, joint projects between Kazakhstan and Germany. 

The forum was attended by representatives of government agencies and private business of Kazakhstan, as well as more than 40 leading representatives of the German economy.
