Camps and beaches in Kazakhstan inspected to ensure children's safety

At the Government Session, Minister for Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov emphasized that educational institutions are inspected annually for fire safety, and practical training exercises are conducted.

Throughout the academic year, preventive work is carried out to educate students, teaching staff, and parents on emergency behavior protocols and first aid. It was also noted that cadet classes, military-patriotic clubs, and youth organizations such as “Young Rescuer” and “Young Firefighter” are actively being implemented and developed in schools.

The Minister announced that to organize children's leisure time during the summer, a national “Young Rescuer” competition is scheduled to take place in June in Kokshetau. As part of the “Qazaqstan Balalary” (Children of Kazakhstan) initiative, events and masterclasses for children and parents will be organized on May 29 across all regional divisions of the Ministry. He also noted that swimming lessons for children are being conducted throughout the year in collaboration with local administrations (akimats).

Furthermore, preparations are underway to ensure safety during key school events, such as the Unified National Testing and graduation ceremonies. Inspections of children’s camps for fire and water safety have already begun. To ensure a safe swimming season, Ministry units are conducting patrols and raids around bodies of water.

“There are currently 70 rescue stations operating across the country. Additional mobile posts will be placed at hazardous water locations. In cooperation with local executive bodies, designated swimming areas are being identified. The list of approved sites will be updated in 2GIS,” Chingis Arinov stated.

The Minister highlighted that the main cause of child fatalities during the swimming season is lack of adult supervision. He pointed out that many incidents occur at small bodies of water, such as canals and irrigation ditches. Therefore, before the start of summer holidays, the Ministry of Education must strengthen its preventive efforts among parents and children.

He also noted a rise in incidents of children falling from windows during the summer. The Ministry is carrying out inspections during which protective devices are installed free of charge. Drones are also being used to inform the public.

Finally, the Minister emphasized the need to ensure safety measures for tourists visiting landmarks and recreational sites during the summer. He assured that the Ministry’s personnel and resources are always ready to respond promptly to emergencies and safeguard citizens.
