In addition, the cumulative volume of investment into the country over the 20-year lifespan of the data centers is estimated at $115 billion.
The first phase of the project provides for the creation of three data centers with a total capacity of 304 MW.
Bagdat Mussin, Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhtelecom JSC, reported on the dynamics of work compared to August of this year. Thus, construction works at the site of the first 68 MW data center have transitioned from the preparatory stage to laying foundations and erecting infrastructure facilities and an administrative building. The commissioning of the first data center is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
In parallel, work is underway to create the second data center, Firebird AI, with a capacity of 164 MW. At the current stage, pit excavation is 70% complete. Campus development provides for further phased expansion of computing capacities and the construction of energy infrastructure. The completion of works and launch are scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.
It is also planned to construct a third data center with a capacity of 72 MW, the commissioning of which is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2027.
To implement the second phase of the "Data Center Valley" project, preliminary agreements have been signed with Gaw Capital, Boosteroid, and Firebird to locate 480 MW of computing capacity, with the possibility of expansion up to 620 MW.
