At the Government session chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, the issue of gas industry development, including in the perimeter of NC QazaqGaz JSC activity was considered. On the main results, including the solution of gas deficit, growth of gasification and introduction of digital tools, reported the Chairman of the Board of the company Sanzhar Zharkeshov.

According to him, thanks to the support of the country's leadership, the Government, the Ministry of Energy, Samruk-Kazyna Fund, QazaqGaz has realised a number of key tasks over the past three years. In particular, the issue of gas deficit has been resolved and a solid resource base for the long-term perspective has been established. The level of gasification in the country increased by 4.7%, 1.7 million people got access to gas. Infrastructure projects worth over 700 billion tenge have been built without attracting budgetary funds.

Sanzhar Zharkeshov added that currently the company's financial condition is stabilised, high international ratings have been obtained, constructive relations with key partners have been established, including the signing of a two-year import contract with Gazprom for gas supply for 2025-2026.

Among the key projects is the construction of the Taldykorgan-Usharal gas trunkline, which will provide 66 more settlements in Zhetysu region with gas. The facility is expected to be completed 1 year and 2 months earlier. Implementation of a project of great importance - construction of a plant for transshipment and fractionation of liquefied petroleum gas at the Kashagan field - has also started. Implementation of the $1.35 billion urea plant project with Turkish investor ESTA started.

Geological exploration has reached a systemic level: five agreements were signed and new gas deposits were discovered in Zhambyl Oblast. Large-scale research is being carried out jointly with Chevron, KazAzot and other partners.

In addition, projects with Qatar's UCC Holding are being implemented, attracting investments worth more than $11 billion. Construction of the gas processing plant at Kashagan is proceeding at an accelerated pace, and preparatory work on the BBS-2 project has also begun.

Separately, the Chairman of the Board of QazaqGaz noted the digital solutions that are being implemented in the gas sector today. Among them are digital gas metering, online technical conditions and gas discount through ‘Social Wallet’.

The pilot project on full digitalisation of gas metering processes implemented in Shymkent has already shown tangible results - receivables have been reduced by 47% and gas losses have been reduced by 74%.

The process of obtaining technical conditions for gas connection has also been updated. The service for issuing technical conditions is now available online. It is integrated into eGov mobile, where documents are automatically downloaded from state databases.

Under the Social Purse project, the total expected amount of discounts granted may exceed 100 million tenge, and the share of citizens with the status of Targeted Social Assistance and housing and utilities who used the discount reached 37%. The pilot project will be scaled up to other regions.
