Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held talks with Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Manet, who arrived in Astana on his first official visit.

Kazakhstan considers Cambodia an important and reliable partner in Southeast Asia.

The government delegations discussed measures to unlock the potential of cooperation in the trade and investment spheres.

Issues of interaction in the agro-industrial and transport-logistics complexes, digitalization and artificial intelligence, as well as in the field of developing tourism and humanitarian ties, were reviewed.

Directions were voiced for expanding the product range and establishing new direct contacts between business circles. Representatives of Cambodia's financial and business community were invited to utilize the capabilities of the AIFC for implementing joint projects and expanding their investment presence in the region.

In the agro-industrial complex, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov expressed interest in supplying Kazakhstani grain crops, vegetable oils, meat, and processed agricultural products to the Cambodian market. Prospects for joint projects in the field of processing and storage of agricultural products, introduction of modern irrigation technologies, and development of agricultural cooperation were reviewed.

In the transport and logistics sector, possibilities of linking the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route with the China – Laos – Vietnam – Cambodia corridor were discussed. This initiative will expand transport connections between Southeast and Central Asia and create additional opportunities for cargo delivery to European markets.

Among the promising areas of bilateral partnership, the fields of digitalization, artificial intelligence, and tourism were also named.

Following the meeting, readiness was confirmed for the further development of Kazakh-Cambodian relations, the expansion of business contacts, and the practical implementation of joint initiatives in priority areas of trade and economic cooperation.
