As a result of road safety measures, the number of traffic accidents, casualties, and deaths has decreased. This was reported at the Government session by Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov.

According to his data, as a result of the measures taken, a decrease in accident indicators is noted:

• number of traffic accidents decreased by 5%;
• death toll – by 15%;
• number of injured – by 6%.

To consolidate the positive trend, the use of digital solutions and specialized software systems is expanding in the country. In particular, all specialized services are combined on the "TOR" platform.

"Using artificial intelligence, control over vehicles is carried out, individuals who have been driving for more than 8 hours are identified, as well as stolen cars. Through the 'Qorğau' system, we identify vehicles that are wanted and with forged license plates, as well as violators. In addition, the number of automated systems for detecting traffic violations has been increased from 28 thousand to 32 thousand," Yerzhan Sadenov reported.

Furthermore, 126 "smart pedestrian" system devices operate in the regions, recording vehicles that failed to yield to pedestrians (in places where they are installed, no facts of hitting people have been registered). Also, to indicate the direction of travel at night and during bad weather conditions, 56 laser systems have been installed on 22 highway sections, and by the end of the year it is planned to install another 48 devices on 20 sections.

The minister also noted that average speed control systems operate on national highways. On the sections where they are installed, a 10% reduction in the number of traffic accidents, a 33% drop in deaths, and a 12% decrease in casualties were recorded.

"Currently, such systems operate on 12 sections with a total length of 2.8 thousand km. By the end of this year, together with the Ministry of Transport, it is planned to install equipment on another 16 sections, which will cover an additional 2.8 thousand km. Thus, the total length of highways with average speed control systems will reach 5.6 thousand km across 28 sections," the minister stressed.

Along with digitalization, the department is tightening control for road safety purposes. Since 2025, control over the operation of taxi aggregators has been strengthened in Kazakhstan, with digital information exchange established with them. In particular, they were sent a list of 70 thousand right-hand drive cars to exclude their registration as taxis.

The minister also noted that an automatic check of driver's licenses is being introduced, excluding the work of individuals without documents. In addition, it is planned to develop a mechanism to control drivers undergoing pre-trip medical examinations and vehicles undergoing technical inspections.

"To combat 'persistent' violators who ignore fines, the department is studying and implementing international best practice. Currently, the introduction of a 'demerit point' system is being developed, which will take into account each violation and its severity. Along with fines, suspension of the driver's license for a period of 1 year is provided for repeated and severe violations," Yerzhan Sadenov reported.
