Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Sylvain Geller, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC “Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Plant” (UKTMP). The parties discussed issues of sustainable development of the enterprise, implementation of investment projects, and further strengthening of Kazakhstan’s position in the global titanium market.
JSC “UKTMP” is one of the world’s largest vertically integrated titanium producers with a full production cycle — from raw material extraction to finished products.
In 2025, about 12 thousand tons of titanium were sold for approximately 87 billion tenge. For the current year, a 7% increase in the production of titanium ingots and alloys is forecast. The enterprise’s products are used in the aerospace industry, petrochemical and nuclear industries, medicine, and shipbuilding. The share of Kazakh titanium in the global aerospace market is about 20%. UKTMP is an approved supplier for leading global manufacturers, including Boeing, Airbus, Safran, Rolls-Royce, TIMET, Howmet Aerospace, Dynamet, PCC, POSCO, and other international industrial corporations.
Attention was paid to the UKTMP investment program until 2033. It includes 25 projects with a total value of 255.5 billion tenge. Among them are the construction of a new sponge titanium production shop with an increase in the enterprise’s design capacity by 10 thousand tons per year; modernization of gas cleaning equipment; introduction of a unified industrial MES system; and the launch of an artificial intelligence and analytics platform for analyzing production data, energy consumption, technological control, and industrial safety. The implementation of these projects will reduce product costs, increase energy efficiency, and expand the enterprise’s production capacities.
In addition, issues of ensuring the raw material base, developing international industrial cooperation, maintaining export potential, and increasing the competitiveness of titanium products in foreign markets were considered.
Olzhas Bektenov emphasized that the development of UKTMP corresponds to the tasks set by the Head of State on strengthening the manufacturing industry, producing high value-added products, and integrating Kazakhstan into global production chains.
