Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, who arrived in Kazakhstan on a working visit, held bilateral talks. Issues of trade and economic and investment cooperation, implementation of projects in industry and energy, transport, as well as interaction in the field of ecology were discussed.

“Thanks to the joint efforts of the Heads of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, Kazakh-Russian relations have been brought to a qualitatively new level of interaction. In recent years, the volume of mutual trade has come close to the benchmark of $30 billion,” Olzhas Bektenov emphasized.
Russia is among the leading investors in the economy of Kazakhstan. In the first nine months of last year, $2.1 billion in Russian investments was attracted. Over the past 20 years, the total volume of direct Russian investments has reached $28.5 billion. Kazakhstan has invested $9 billion in the Russian economy.

“I would like to sincerely congratulate you and all Kazakhstanis on this historic event — the adoption of the new Constitution. The results of the referendum have confirmed the people’s support for the course of the President of Kazakhstan, respected Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aimed at building a modern and prosperous state and improving the well-being of citizens of the Republic,” Mikhail Mishustin noted.
During the talks, attention was also paid to joint actions to preserve the ecosystem of the Caspian Sea and implement environmental initiatives. Kazakhstan advocates for systematic and coordinated interaction among all Caspian states aimed at preventing further decline in the level of the Caspian Sea and stabilizing the environmental situation. On the initiative of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a draft Intergovernmental Program for the conservation of the Caspian water resources is being developed.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their intention to further develop trade and economic cooperation.
