During his working trip to Ulytau region, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov got acquainted with the progress of implementation of the President's instructions on modernisation of social infrastructure, construction of housing and utility networks, as well as preparation of educational facilities for the upcoming school year.
In Zhezkazgan he inspected the area where a new district and engineering communications are being built, reported on the situation and plans for water supply in the region. Also, Head of the Government got acquainted with the development of educational infrastructure on the example of a dormitory for students of the specialised boarding school-gymnasium named after Abay.
According to the results of the last 7 months the volume of commissioned housing in the region amounted to 34.5 thousand m2, which is 4.8% higher than in the same period last year. Intensive construction is underway in Zhezkazgan within the framework of the approved Master Plan for the development of the regional centre. According to the first stage, 44 hectares of the Western district of Zhezkazgan will be developed until 2030. Akim of the city Kairat Shaizhanov reported that the construction of 88 multi-storey residential buildings with a total area of 982.6 thousand square metres and 67 social and cultural facilities, including schools, kindergartens, drama theatre, technical university, medical institutions, schoolchildren's palace, etc., is planned on the land plot.
As of today, 360 families have been provided with flats, 240 of which are rented for socially vulnerable categories of the population.
Prime Minister noted that as part of the implementation of the General Plan of Zhezkazgan, the Government has allocated 4.8 billion tenge for the construction of main heat, water and sewage networks. Part of communications with a total length of 10.5 kilometres will be fully laid by the end of this year, the project for the construction of heating networks is transitional for 2025. Also within the framework of the Memorandum between Akimat of the region and "Corporation Kazakhmys" in the current year the project on reconstruction of sewage treatment facilities of the city is developed, at present the positive conclusion of the state expertise is already received.
Special attention is paid to the issue of providing quality drinking water to the population of Zhezkazgan. The sources of water supply in the city are the Kengir reservoir and Uytas-Aidos underground water intake, the wear and tear of which is 70 per cent. To address this issue, the region is implementing projects to reconstruct the domestic and drinking water treatment facilities and the pumping station of the second lift. The works are scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. As a result of the project implementation, quality drinking water will be available to about 89.2 thousand residents. Construction of the Eskuli water pipeline is also underway in the city, which will provide drinking water for the population of Satpayev and Zhezkazgan cities, as well as neighbouring settlements.
Olzhas Bektenov noted the priority of these projects. The Ministries of Water Resources and Irrigation, Industry and Construction, Finance have been instructed to ensure allocation of necessary funds for timely completion of works.
"On the instructions of the Head of State, by the end of 2025, we need to provide 100 per cent access of the population to quality drinking water. This is one of the most socially important tasks," Olzhas Bektenov emphasised.
During the visit, Prime Minister also inspected the building of a dormitory for students of the specialised boarding school-gymnasium named after Abay, built within the framework of the President's instruction. The works have been completed, on 1 September the reception and settlement of children will begin. The new
3-storey building is designed for 200 children. For the convenience of residents there are kitchens, household rooms, inventory and laundry rooms, a room for classes.
Prime Minister stressed that the school-gymnasium named after Abay is one of the few institutions of the country. Abay school-gymnasium is one of the few institutions of secondary education, where children from remote districts and villages study directly in the city.
The Government pays great attention to improving the quality of education, including the development of infrastructure. For example, the construction of a 300-seat Comfort School in Zhezkazgan is scheduled to be completed this year, and a number of schools will be commissioned in 2025.
