Olzhas Bektenov discusses trade and economic cooperation with Mikhail Mishustin

During an official visit to the Russian Federation held bilateral talks Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin. 

Attention was paid to the practical implementation of agreements reached at the level of heads of state, including to increase mutual trade turnover to $ 30 billion. Considered transit and transport cooperation, cooperation in agriculture, environmental protection, energy and gas, space, as well as cultural and humanitarian ties.

Last year, the volume of bilateral trade turnover grew by almost 3% to $27.8 billion. Business entities jointly implement 171 projects, creating about 45,400 jobs.

One of the important areas of bilateral cooperation is interaction in the agro-industrial complex. Last year, as a result of the removal of mutual restrictions in the bilateral order, the trade turnover in this sphere grew by 4.5% and totalled $3.8 billion. 

In the transit and transport direction, the indicators of cargo traffic along the Eastern branch of the North-South international corridor rose to 2.4 million tonnes at the end of last year.

The Parties emphasised the importance of maintaining the positive dynamics of mutual trade. The activities of the Intergovernmental Commission for Cooperation are of particular importance in addressing a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and increasing trade turnover.

As a result of the negotiations, the parties confirmed their intentions to strengthen mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation.
