Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov within his working trip to Shymkent familiarised himself with the current development of the metropolis and measures to implement the message of the Head of State "Fair Kazakhstan: law and order, economic growth, social optimism".
On the territory of the industrial zone "Ontustik" Prime Minister visited the enterprise for production of aluminium cans and lids for beverages QazAlPack. Production capacity allows producing 1.2 billion cans per year. The plant employs 360 people.
Director of QazAlPack LLP Rustam Sukhov presented the automated production process and said that this type of packaging is the most progressive and environmentally friendly in terms of its consumer properties. Products manufactured according to modern quality standards are sold in the domestic market and exported to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Thanks to state support measures and the favourable conditions created on the territory of IZ, the company plans to launch a second production line and increase the volume to 2.3 billion cans by 2025.
Deputy Akim of Shymkent city Aydyn Karimov reported that in general, the industrial framework of Shymkent is formed by 7 industrial zones with a total area of 1,276 hectares, where 293 projects have been implemented and more than 8.2 thousand new jobs have been created. In the investment portfolio of IZ "Оntustik" there are 70 projects with a total cost of 151.3 billion tenge.
Head of the Government also familiarised himself with the technological chain of production of various fuels at PetroKazakhstan Oil Products refinery. The enterprise provides processing of 6 million tonnes of oil per year. Among the products produced are motor gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation paraffin, liquefied hydrocarbon gas, fuel oil and other petroleum products.
Prime Minister was reported on the start of the project to increase the production capacity of the Shymkent Refinery to 12 million tonnes of refined oil per year. Olzhas Bektenov stressed the importance of ensuring stability in the fuel and lubricants market. The attention of the management of the region and the refinery was drawn to further improve the quality of refining, as well as preventing the diversion and "grey export" of oil products.
During the trip Prime Minister got acquainted with the implementation of the General Plan of the city of Shymkent on the example of a number of new social and road facilities under construction. On the spot it was reported about plans to commission 66 residential buildings for 2.6 thousand flats by the end of the year. It is expected that by the end of this year 1.4 million m2 of housing will be commissioned. Comfortable schools, polyclinics, modern sports complexes, as well as a schoolchildren's palace are under construction in residential areas.
Prime Minister during his visit to Akzhaiyk mkr., where 36 residential buildings are under construction, drew attention to the quality of construction and the need to further increase the share of Kazakhstani goods and services.
First Deputy Akim of Shymkent Kuanysh Asylov reported that to ensure the passage of transit traffic bypassing the city, the reconstruction of the A-2 motorway "Khorgos-Almaty-Shymkent-Border of the Republic of Uzbekistan" with a length of 28.2 km is being carried out. The works on four sections out of eight have been completed, the Akimat plans to complete the remaining sections by the end of 2025.
It was noted that further development of the city, expansion of production capacities and launch of new infrastructure projects requires stable and uninterrupted power supply. Today in Shymkent the total capacity of its own generated energy is 120 MW, at the same time the city consumes 400 MW, in peak periods it consumes 500 MW.
Head of the Government stressed that currently the energy sector of Kazakhstan is highly dependent on coal-fired power plants, which provide about 70% of all electricity generated in the country. However, this model faces serious problems, as the existing plants have a high level of wear and tear. In case of a positive decision in the referendum on 6 October this year, a nuclear power plant could be a solution to these problems. NPP is able to ensure stable energy supply. The construction of NPP will contribute to the diversification of energy and industrial production, while taking into account all aspects of waste management from collection and storage to utilisation and recycling.
