Olzhas Bektenov Holds Meeting on Implementation of the Data Center Valley Project in Fulfillment of President’s Instructions

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov chaired a meeting on the current status of the Data Center Valley project as part of the tasks set by the Head of State at the V session of the National Kurultai.

Reports on the work being carried out were delivered by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev, Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov, Akim of Pavlodar Region Asain Baikhanov, and Chairman of the Board of JSC Kazakhtelecom Bagdat Musin.

In the city of Ekibastuz, Pavlodar Region, land plots have been identified, basic agreements have been concluded, and a 215 MW substation has been acquired, forming the foundation of the energy infrastructure for the Data Center Valley project.

During the meeting, a preferential electricity tariff model was approved to create favorable conditions for investors, along with the necessary investment and tax incentives.

Bagdat Musin reported that work is underway to attract international technology and investment companies. Negotiations have been held with more than 20 hyperscale companies from the United States, China, and India operating in cloud computing, big data processing, and artificial intelligence. Following the negotiations, preliminary demand for over 100 MW of capacity has been formed. The overall potential of the Data Center Valley is up to 1 GW and is designed to accommodate large anchor clients.

Overall, the implementation of the Data Center Valley project is aimed at creating the largest regional digital hub in Kazakhstan and attracting leading global technology companies.

The Prime Minister instructed to accelerate the adoption of necessary regulatory decisions and ensure the timely completion of all stages of the project.
