Olzhas Bektenov discusses production localisation prospects with top management of Italian companies Maire Tecnimont and Ansaldo Energia

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov met with the heads of Italian companies leading manufacturers of equipment in the field of energy and oil and gas chemistry on the implementation of agreements and memoranda concluded on the margins of the Kazakhstan-Italian round table with the participation of the President of Kazakhstan in Rome in January this year.

In the course of negotiations with Fabrizio Fabbri, General Director of Ansaldo Energia, they discussed measures to improve the efficiency of energy infrastructure through the use of innovative technologies. The Italian company's experience in the development of gas and steam turbines is promising in this area. According to the previously adopted agreement, two gas turbines will be produced for Almaty CHPP-3. In this regard, the parties are interested in mutually beneficial cooperation and localisation of components for gas turbine installations in Kazakhstan. This will make it possible to produce various components for gas turbine generating plants in the country and create high-tech supply chains in the field of power generation equipment.

At the meeting with Alessandro Bernini, President of Maire Tecnimont, cooperation in the field of deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials and increasing the output of high quality and competitive products with high added value was discussed. Kazakhstan is currently implementing large-scale projects to build plants for the production of polymers and other important products in demand in world markets. In turn, Maire Tecnimont is interested in participating in the implementation of investment projects in the production of polyethylene, butadiene, sustainable aviation fuel, as well as the construction of a gas separation complex. It should be noted that the partnership on the project of sustainable aviation fuel will be a significant contribution to the development of green technologies in the aviation industry of Kazakhstan. Production of this fuel will reduce carbon emissions, improve environmental safety of flights and strengthen Kazakhstan's position in the global market of green technologies.

Following the meetings, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov noted the importance of large-scale infrastructure initiatives aimed at diversifying and changing the structure of the economy with a focus on processing, and confirmed the readiness of the Government to assist foreign investors at all stages of implementation of joint projects.
