Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting on the current status of the “Data Center Valley” project in Pavlodar Region. The project is being implemented in fulfillment of the tasks set by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the V session of the National Kurultai and during the second meeting of the Council for the Development of Artificial Intelligence.

Reports on the work being carried out were delivered by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev, Chairman of the Board of JSC Kazakhtelecom Bagdat Mussin, and Akim of Pavlodar Region Assain Baikhanov on the preparation of the necessary engineering infrastructure.

Geodetic works have been completed at the site in the city of Ekibastuz, engineering-geological surveys are underway, and excavation of pits for future modular blocks is being carried out. Construction equipment and personnel have been mobilized. The full cycle of construction works will begin in June 2026.

During the meeting, approaches in the fields of electric power, data storage and processing, and information security were considered, taking into account best international practices and the requirements of technological partners. The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development has formed a pool of potential project participants from among global technology leaders, hyperscalers, and leading international companies in the field of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. The project provides for the development of a local AI ecosystem, research initiatives, personnel training, and joint programs to support startups in the field of artificial intelligence on the basis of the international center alem.ai.

Following the meeting, Olzhas Bektenov instructed the responsible state bodies and development institutions to increase the pace of work in all areas. Specific results of the project implementation must be presented to the Prime Minister in one month.
