Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov instructed Minister for Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov and Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Yerlan Nysanbayev to immediately travel to Abai Region to coordinate work on extinguishing the forest fire in the territory of “Semey Ormany”.

They have been tasked with strengthening measures for the prompt prevention of fire spread and protection of nearby settlements.

As of 16:00 on July 16, 2026, more than 400 people and about 100 units of equipment are involved in fire suppression. Water drops totaling over 100 tons have been carried out.

The work of the headquarters is under the personal control of the Head of the Government.
