On the instruction of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov participated in a meeting of the deputies of the Kyzylorda Region Maslikhat.

During the meeting, a letter from the Head of State was read out nominating two candidates for the position of Akim of Kyzylorda Region: Ardak Zebeshev and Murat Yergeshbayev. As a result of open voting, 81% of the deputies voted for Murat Yergeshbayev. Ardak Zebeshev received 19% of the votes. By Presidential Decree, Murat Yergeshbayev was appointed Akim of Kyzylorda Region.

At a meeting with the active members of the region, Olzhas Bektenov, on behalf of the Head of State, expressed gratitude to Nurlybek Nalibayev for his significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the region and improving the quality of life of citizens. The gross regional product has doubled over four years and reached 3.7 trillion tenge. Active work is underway to attract investment, build and modernize socially important infrastructure, improve living conditions, and more.

The Prime Minister presented the new Akim of the region, Murat Yergeshbayev, to the active members and emphasized that the President has set a number of priority tasks for the leadership of Kyzylorda Region. First and foremost, this includes the implementation of the constitutional reform initiated by the Head of State, aimed at further modernization of the country, improving the well-being of the population, diversifying and digitalizing economic sectors, attracting investment, developing social infrastructure, and other priority areas.

“On the initiative of the President, important political and socio-economic reforms are being carried out in the country. The effective implementation of the Concept Fair Kazakhstan depends on all of us. The Head of State pays constant attention to the development of Kyzylorda Region. To achieve the set goals, active joint work of all structures is necessary,” Olzhas Bektenov emphasized and issued a number of instructions.

The regional leadership must ensure the stable operation of important projects that directly affect the improvement of the quality of life of citizens. On the initiative of the President, a new gas-fired CHP plant with a capacity of 240 MW has been built and commissioned in Kyzylorda, fully meeting the population’s needs for electricity and heat supply. 215 billion tenge has been invested in this major energy project. Hot water supply has been provided to the city of Kyzylorda, for which more than 26 billion tenge was allocated from the republican budget.

In the agro-industrial complex, the importance of optimizing the volumes of cultivated crops and introducing water-saving technologies was noted. Attention was paid to the development of small and medium-sized businesses and further increasing their share in the region’s economy by supporting entrepreneurial activity. Last year, this indicator reached 24.7%.

In addition, it is necessary to continue the practice of analyzing and effectively spending budget funds. Over the past four years in Kyzylorda Region, ineffective spending of more than 100 billion tenge in the social sphere has been prevented. The saved funds have been directed toward improving the quality of life of the population and implementing new infrastructure projects.
