Ministry of Healthcare adopted a set of measures to prevent the emergence and spread of coronavirus infection in Kazakhstan

Jan. 28 at the press conference in the Government, Minister of Healthcare Yelzhan Birtanov spoke about the package of measures taken to prevent the importation and spread of coronavirus infection in Kazakhstan, and also gave recommendations to Kazakhstanis who recently arrived from China.

As of today in the PRC, 4,515 confirmed cases of new coronavirus pneumonia have been recorded in 30 provinces, of which 106 are fatal.

Quarantine has been introduced in 15 cities in the province of Hubei, residents are prohibited from leaving the city, the entry and exit of flights, buses and trains are suspended.

In the world, 60 confirmed cases of the disease with a new type of coronavirus are registered in 15 countries.

According to the Minister of Healthcare, Jan. 6, a decision was made by the chief state sanitary inspector to strengthen sanitary control in order to prevent the spread of infection in Kazakhstan.

First of all, sanitary control measures have been strengthened at airports and railway stations, and countermeasures have been taken to import and spread the coronavirus into the country.

Since Jan. 6, an inspection has been carried out of all citizens entering China, including an inspection through heat metering. Questionnaires are filled out for all people with temperature, they are registered at the place of residence,” the minister said.

To date, 25,858 people have arrived from China, these are citizens of Kazakhstan and foreign citizens. All data is transmitted to the Ministry of Healthcare and then through the control committee (Committee for Quality and Safety of Goods and Services of the Ministry of Healthcare) inspections and contacts with citizens are carried out at the place of residence.

Among the arrivals were people with symptoms of acute respiratory viral infection. To date, 23 have arrived for feverish patients; four of these have been hospitalized with suspected acute respiratory viral infections. Within three days, a detailed diagnosis will be carried out. Appropriate therapy has begun,” Birtanov explained.

Exercises were conducted in all regions, and training is additionally conducted among medical personnel. From the government reserve, we order additional financing in case of an increase in the number of patients or persons with suspected infection. In addition, personal protective equipment, disinfectants and medical devices accepted in such cases will be purchased. We have all the necessary resources to provide medical care, we have formed additional reserves of medicines and medical devices,” the minister explained.

At the same time, Birtanov urged citizens of Kazakhstan arriving from China.

All citizens who have arrived from the PRC over the past 14 days, as well as from neighboring countries, can come or call their polyclinic at their place of residence, set an appointment with their doctors, tell you if you have any health problems. It’s for your safety that our medical specialists keep an eye on if there is a deterioration in health, so that we can take measures to protect you and your family members,” concluded Birtanov.

It is worth noting that at the moment in the Republic of Kazakhstan, cases of the disease have not been registered. At checkpoints across the state border with the PRC, 19,990 people were examined.
