Development of trade and economic cooperation of EAEU member states discussed at the meeting of EEC Council

The issues of trade and economic cooperation of the EAEU member states, the development of integration potential in certain spheres of the economy were discussed by the participants in the meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov. In general, 22 issues were considered during the online meeting.

In particular, for the full implementation of the Strategic Directions for the Development of the EAEU, approved by the heads of state in December last year, a corresponding roadmap was adopted, which contains about 500 events.

The implementation of this document will allow unlocking the integration potential for citizens and businesses, ensuring the maximum efficiency of the EAEU single market, positioning the EAEU as one of the most significant integration associations of the modern world, open for mutually beneficial and equal cooperation with external partners.

The Council members approved the launch of the Digital Technical Regulation project. The implementation of this project will ensure the digitalization of the processes for the formation of requirements for products, the development of technical regulations and lists of international standards. In general, the project will reduce the cost of conducting conformity assessment procedures, both financial and time.

The Council also approved amendments to the Agreement on Uniform Principles of Circulation of Medical Devices within the EAEU, providing for the issuance of registration certificates for medical devices from Jan. 1, 2022, in accordance with the unified rules of the EAEU. At the same time, national registration certificates for medical devices issued before Dec. 31, 2021 will be used until the expiration date.

Council members approved the launch of pilot projects in the EAEU countries in the field of foreign electronic trade in goods, which will allow citizens to buy goods on foreign Internet sites in a more convenient format.

Separate issues of the functioning of the EAEU were discussed, as well as the draft Agreement on the use of navigation seals in the EAEU for tracking shipments, the adoption of which contributes to the provision of free transit through the territories of the EAEU countries.
