First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar held a meeting with Zhu Xiaofei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MCC International Engineering Group Co., Ltd., who arrived in Astana at the head of a delegation from the Chinese company.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the mining and metallurgical industries, as well as the participation of the Chinese engineering company in the implementation of large-scale industrial projects in the territory of Kazakhstan.

Roman Sklyar noted the significant international experience of MCC International Engineering Group in implementing full-cycle projects, ranging from design and equipment supply to construction and commissioning of facilities. It was emphasized that this experience is of practical interest to Kazakhstani industrial companies in the context of modernizing production capacities and developing the country’s raw material base.

Special attention during the negotiations was paid to the project for the construction of a processing plant in the Atasu area for the beneficiation of iron and manganese ore. The Kazakh side considers this project to be a strategically important element in the development of the mining sector and in increasing value added within the country.

Roman Sklyar confirmed the readiness of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to provide the necessary interagency support for the project and to facilitate the prompt resolution of issues related to its implementation.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on the substantive participation of MCC International Engineering Group in elaborating the project, forming a joint working group, and coordinating the timeline for preparing a roadmap defining the parameters of cooperation. They also confirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue on promising mining and processing projects.
