Roman Sklyar Participates in the Boao Forum for Asia

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar took part in the opening ceremony and events of the 25th Annual Conference of the Boao Forum for Asia.

The forum was also attended by Prime Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong, Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Gafarova, Speaker of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Jagath Wickramaratne, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji, as well as high-level representatives from more than 60 countries and regions worldwide.

The forum conference was opened by Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Boao Forum for Asia Ban Ki-moon. In his speech, he emphasized the need for countries in Asia and the international community to consolidate efforts in the face of modern global challenges, including heightened geopolitical tensions, the growing number of armed conflicts, and threats to sustainable development. He paid special attention to the need to strengthen mutual trust, deepen regional integration, maintain openness of the global economy, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation.

Speaking at the session “High-Level Dialogue: Bringing Certainty amid Global Uncertainty,” Roman Sklyar emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to the principles of an open economy, sustainable development, and predictability of investment policy. He highlighted the importance of strengthening international cooperation and developing interconnected transport and logistics corridors. Particular attention was given to Kazakhstan’s role as a reliable partner and transit hub between Asia and Europe, as well as the need for joint responses to global economic challenges.

During his working visit to Boao, Roman Sklyar held a meeting with Liu Xiaoming, Governor of Hainan Province. The parties discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic relations, investment, interregional ties, and cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Roman Sklyar stressed that Kazakhstan remains a reliable and open partner for Chinese investors, creating favorable conditions for the implementation of joint projects, including the development of industrial zones and transport and logistics infrastructure.

Governor of Hainan Province Liu Xiaoming expressed the region’s interest in establishing cooperation with the regions of Kazakhstan.

As part of the visit, Roman Sklyar also held meetings with the heads of leading Chinese companies. The discussions focused on the status of ongoing priority projects and prospects for industrial and investment cooperation in the fields of oil and gas, petrochemicals and coal chemistry, metallurgy, and automotive manufacturing.

Roman Sklyar noted that the new Constitution of Kazakhstan creates additional opportunities to intensify investment cooperation and implement large-scale joint projects. At the same time, the Government of Kazakhstan is ready to provide comprehensive support to joint initiatives, ensure coordination of their implementation, and create the necessary conditions for the successful execution of projects at all stages.

Following the meetings, representatives of the Chinese companies confirmed their readiness to implement the reached agreements, expand production and technological cooperation, and deepen the localization of products manufactured in Kazakhstan.
