The Prime Minister, Head of the Republican headquarters for coordination of flood control measures and elimination of consequences of the flood period Olzhas Bektenov checked the progress of work and measures to fulfil the instructions of the Head of State in West Kazakhstan region.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov inspected work on strengthening dams in Petropavlovsk, designed to protect the city and neighbouring settlements from floods in case of overflow of the Yesil River.

In general, the flood situation remains difficult across the country. 3,698 private residential houses in 6 regions remain submerged. Overflows continue on 155 road sections. 88 road washouts, including 4 bridges, are under control. 58 settlements are without transport communication, food and medicines are being delivered.
In Atyrau, an off-site meeting of the Republican Headquarters for coordination of flood control measures and elimination of flood consequences was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. The leadership of ministries and regional akimats was connected in the videoconference mode.
As part of the work on flood control, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar together with Akim of North Kazakhstan region Gauez Nurmukhambetov inspected the dams of Teplichnoye village and Kozhevenny settlement, pumping station of the 1st and 2nd lift of drinking water of Kyzylzhar Su LLP.
On the instructions of the Head of State, Olzhas Bektenov, Prime Minister, the Head of the Republican Headquarters for coordination of flood control measures and elimination of consequences of the flood period, checked the current situation in Atyrau region. The territory was overflighted, the progress of bank protection works was inspected.

In particular, he familiarised himself with the situation in Amangeldinsky, Zhangeldinsky districts and Arkalyk city, where the state of emergency has been declared.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation during floods provides safe operation of hydraulic structures to regulate river flow and passage of flood and melt water to downstream, as well as accumulation of the design volume of water in reservoirs. This was announced by the head of the department Nurzhan Nurzhigitov at the Government session chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
Since the beginning of the flood period, 66 cases of overflow have been registered on the republican motorways. Now in 5 regions there are overflows on 5 roads with a length of 980 metres, in connection with which the restriction of traffic on 6 roads with a length of 410 km has been introduced. As the Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev noted, round-the-clock monitoring of flood-prone areas and road structures is carried out.
The current flood situation in the country was considered at the Government session chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov. Reports on the topic were made by the Ministers of Ecology and Natural Resources, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations and Akims of the regions.
The flood situation in Karaganda region was inspected by Deputy Prime Minister – Deputy Head of the Republican Headquarters for coordination of flood control measures and elimination of consequences of the flood period Kanat Bozumbayev and Minister for Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov.
