Cooperation with EBRD discussed in Government of Kazakhstan

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov met with Managing Director of Eurasian Bank of Reconstruction and Development for Central Asia Zsuzsanna Hargitai and EBRD Director for Kazakhstan Hüseyin Özhan

Bakhyt Sultanov noted that Kazakhstan is aimed at further partnership with the EBRD for sustainable growth and development of the national economy.

The parties discussed the current agenda of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Bank, as well as further plans for the medium term. Including the development of a new EBRD Country Strategy in Kazakhstan and progress in implementing the Enhanced Partnership Framework Agreement (EPFA) for 2021-2025 with a focus on regional development.

Bakhyt Sultanov placed special emphasis on the need to attract additional investment for public infrastructure projects and expand cooperation on supporting SMEs.

Much attention was paid to the issues of achieving carbon neutrality of Kazakhstan in order to comply with international obligations under COP26. In particular, the interaction of the parties on the development of the renewable energy sector, including the improvement of legislation in this area and the practical implementation of the principle of green cities.
