Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk held talks on cooperation in agriculture. They were a continuation of the discussions raised at the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the two countries.
The parties noted the general readiness of information systems for exchange of electronic veterinary accompanying data and in the field of plant quarantine. Now there is a stage of interstate testing of the Kazakh IS by the EEC. After successful completion of these procedures and integration of the Kazakh and Russian information systems, the participants will be able to have online access to a single database of permits for import, export and transit of controlled goods, as well as to the register of organisations and persons engaged in the production, processing and storage of agricultural goods. This will significantly simplify and speed up the transport of export-import operations for plant and livestock products.
The Kazakh side informed about readiness in the near future to lift restrictions on import and transit of pork through Kazakhstan from 16 more regions of the Russian Federation. The safety of these regions is confirmed by the results of relevant studies and the expiration of the necessary time limits. Recall that this year, in stages, starting in January, were lifted restrictions on the import and transit of pork from the territory of 43 regions of the Russian Federation.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the situation on the restrictions of Rosselkhoznadzor on the import of certain types of agricultural products from Kazakhstan to Russia. The parties exchanged proposals on the possibilities of early settlement and removal of these restrictions, which will be considered in detail by specialists of sectoral departments of the two countries.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to hold another meeting to summarise the results of the negotiations.
