Financing Mechanisms for Alatau City Infrastructure Projects Discussed in London

The Kazakhstani delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev, held talks with representatives of the UK Government, the export credit agency UK Export Finance (UKEF), international banks, and educational organizations. The main topics included financing Alatau City's infrastructure, attracting British technologies, and developing cooperation in education and artificial intelligence.

At a roundtable with the management of UKEF, opportunities for financing Alatau City's energy, transport, and utility projects using export credits, bank guarantees, and other state support instruments for British exports were reviewed.

The Kazakhstani side proposed forming a list of priority projects that could be implemented by attracting British engineering companies, equipment manufacturers, and financial institutions in the construction of energy facilities, water supply and sanitation systems, and transport infrastructure.

During a meeting with Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom Lord Stewart Wood, issues regarding the further development of the strategic partnership between the two countries were discussed. The parties considered the participation of British business in infrastructure and technological projects, as well as prospects for cooperation in energy, industry, and the digital economy.

Practical mechanisms for attracting capital were the subject of negotiations with Charles Corbett, Global Head of Public Sector at Standard Chartered. Opportunities for syndicated lending, co-financing with international development institutions, and the use of export credit agency guarantees were discussed.

A separate meeting was held with UK Ministers of State Anas Sarwar, Chris McDonald, and Kanishka Narayan. The talks focused on expanding trade and investment cooperation, introducing British technologies, and developing joint projects in science, innovation, and artificial intelligence. Prospects for applying digital solutions in managing Alatau City's urban infrastructure were reviewed.

As part of the educational track, the Kazakhstani delegation held talks with the management of Magdalen College School. The possibility of opening an international-level school in Alatau City, introducing British educational curricula, and organizing joint teacher training was discussed.
