Under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aida Balaeva, the second meeting of the Republican Headquarters for Organizing Children’s Summer Holidays was held in the Government.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Education Zhuldyz Suleimenova, Deputy Minister of Healthcare Timur Muratov, Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations Kegen Tursynbayev, as well as representatives of central government agencies and deputy akims of the regions.

The central topic was ensuring the safety of children during the summer holidays.

Zhuldyz Suleimenova reported on the progress of organizing summer leisure activities. To date, more than 3.2 million children have been covered by recreation in more than 10,800 organizations. More than 116 thousand children have undergone health improvement in 176 year-round and seasonal centers, while another more than 3.1 million have rested in more than 10,700 school-based camps and additional education organizations.

Special attention was paid to licensing issues. This year, mandatory licensing of organizations providing educational and health improvement services was introduced for the first time. Uniform requirements have been established for safety, staffing, catering, medical support, and the content of health improvement programs. To date, 64 centers have received licenses, and another 45 applications are under consideration.

Deputy Minister of Healthcare Timur Muratov informed about measures to ensure sanitary and epidemiological safety. To date, 189 applications have been received for sanitary and epidemiological conclusions. Positive conclusions were issued for 180 facilities. Before issuance, each facility undergoes mandatory inspection for compliance with sanitary requirements, including laboratory testing of drinking water, pool water, soil, and sand on beaches.

Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations Kegen Tursynbayev reported on measures to ensure children’s safety. Before the start of the summer season, the department, together with akimats, inspected 220 children’s camps. In 78 health improvement organizations, 756 violations of fire safety requirements were identified.

Separately, emergency incidents registered in the first weeks of the summer campaign were reviewed. It was emphasized that in all cases, the actions of government agencies were promptly coordinated, children were quickly moved to safe places, and medical support was organized.

Summing up the results of the meeting, Aida Balaeva instructed to strengthen information and explanatory work with the population on safe behavior during summer holidays, sanitary-epidemiological, fire-prevention, and public control, and to ensure the safety of children during recreation, excursions, and other events. The Deputy Prime Minister paid special attention to the need to strengthen work in conditions of abnormally hot weather, including constant monitoring of the quality of nutrition.
