As part of a joint working trip to the Turkistan and Kyzylorda regions with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev conducted inspections of water management facilities and held a series of meetings with local farmers.
Accompanied by Kyzylorda Region Akim Nurlibek Nalibayev, he visited farming enterprises in the Syrdarya, Kazalinsky, Karmakshy, and Zhalagash districts, where he reviewed the current situation in the agricultural sector.
In the Syrdarya district, Kanat Bozumbayev visited the “Magzhan & K” farm, which grows rice, wheat, and alfalfa. To increase irrigation efficiency and reduce water losses, farmers have implemented laser land leveling technology. To date, 458.5 million m³ of water have been delivered to the district out of the planned 674.2 million m³, which is 68% of the total volume.
In the Kazalinsky district, the Deputy Prime Minister visited the “RZA” company, which employs over 200 people. The farm grows rice, corn, and alfalfa. Irrigation is carried out through the inter-farm channels “Basykara” and “Kyzyluy.” In total, nine agricultural enterprises engaged in crop production operate in the district. Since the start of the growing season, 259.6 million m³ of water have been delivered here out of 295.03 million m³ stipulated in contracts, which is 88% of the plan. Additional support is provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which supplies pumping units to the farms.
Kanat Bozumbayev then inspected the operation of the Basykara hydrojunction. During a meeting with farm managers at the site, he reported on the international agreements that had been reached.
“Thanks to negotiations with neighboring countries, we expect the water volume to be sufficient to complete the growing season. By August 15, 200 m³ per second will be supplied from Uzbekistan and 150 from Kyrgyzstan,” Kanat Bozumbayev noted.
The Deputy Prime Minister also inspected the condition of irrigated lands in the Karmakshy and Zhalagash districts and visited the agricultural enterprises “Zhanazhol” and “Tang LTD.” In each district, working groups have been created to conduct monitoring and outreach among farmers. Over 320 pumping units are being used in the region to utilize drainage water. Irrigation is carried out according to schedule through five main and three inter-farm canals. As of today, 98% of crops are irrigated alternately. The situation remains under the constant control of the Government.
