The harvesting campaign continues in Kazakhstan. This season, farmers continue their work to harvest crops and supply the domestic market. Food security issues are among the priorities outlined by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in his State of the Nation Address.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, as of September 9, the harvesting campaign in the country is underway. Farmers have harvested 9.6 million hectares of grain crops, or 61.6% of the total area. A total of 13.5 million tonnes of grain has been threshed with an average yield of 14.1 c/ha. The pace of harvesting operations this year significantly exceeds the figures for the same period in 2025. At the same time, the stable quality characteristics of the incoming harvest are maintained.

Licensed grain receiving enterprises have already taken in 2.83 million tonnes of grain. For comparison, during the same period last year, the intake volume was 552,700 tonnes. Thus, the volume of incoming grain has increased more than fivefold. Particular attention is paid to the quality of the harvest. According to laboratory test results, 93% of the received soft wheat meets food-grade standards. Within the food-grade wheat structure, 75% is classified as third-class wheat, and 18% as fourth-class wheat. The share of fifth-class wheat and non-class grain accounts for 7%. A gluten content of over 28% was recorded in 51% of the tested soft wheat. Another 23.6% have a gluten level of 25–27%, and 25.4% have 23–24%.

These figures indicate the high food potential of the new harvest and create the necessary conditions to supply the domestic market with high-quality grain, as well as to further develop the export potential of the domestic agro-industrial complex. The Ministry of Agriculture, together with regional akimats, continuously monitors the pace of harvesting, grain reception, storage, grading, and the provision of necessary resources to farms.

Over 6.3 million tonnes of other agricultural crops harvested

In parallel, the harvesting of other major agricultural crops continues. To date, 906,500 tonnes of oilseeds, 2.4 million tonnes of vegetables, 1.8 million tonnes of melons and gourds, and 1.2 million tonnes of potatoes have been harvested. Regional headquarters are coordinating field operations, ensuring the necessary conditions for the timely completion of the harvesting campaign.

For harvesting and autumn field work, 401,100 tonnes of diesel fuel have been allocated to the regions. The provision of mineral fertilizers to agricultural producers continues. Against an annual requirement of 2.3 million tonnes, contracts have already been signed and 2 million tonnes shipped, representing 85% of the annual volume. This makes it possible to simultaneously address two key tasks: ensuring the uninterrupted completion of the current harvesting campaign and timely preparing farmers for the next production cycle.

At this stage, the priority tasks remain the timely completion of the harvest, ensuring the preservation of the collected crops, quality grain reception, and the formation of sufficient food grain reserves. The expected volume of the new harvest indicates strong food potential and creates conditions to supply the domestic market with high-quality grain, alongside the further development of the export potential of the domestic agro-industrial complex. Work to ensure the country's food security and the sustainable development of the agro-industrial complex continues.
