New waste water treatment facilities construction in Taraz to start as soon as possible — Alikhan Smailov

As part of a working trip to Zhambyl region, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov familiarized himself with the condition of filtration fields of Taraz city and the progress of preparations for the construction of new sewage treatment facilities (STF), and visited the new regional multidisciplinary center of oncology and surgery.

Taraz sewage filtration fields were built in 1962 and today are in unsatisfactory condition. Their design capacity is 43 thousand cubic meters per day, while in fact about 70-80 thousand cubic meters of wastewater are received daily. To solve the problem, the Akimat has started to develop a project for launching new sewage treatment plants. Currently the necessary technical documentation is being prepared, construction is planned to start in 2025.

Prime Minister noted that in Taraz the number of industrial facilities is increasing and the population is growing, but the city has communal problems, which have not found a solution so far.

"There are no treatment facilities in the city. This becomes a major problem, as it can lead to pollution of river and groundwater. Akimat conducts relevant work on new treatment facilities, the planned capacity of which will be 100 thousand cubic meters per day. The realization of the project should be started as soon as possible," Alikhan Smailov said.

He also pointed out the need to solve problematic issues concerning the landfill and waste accumulation of Kazphosphate LLP.

During the visit to the new oncology center for 200 beds, Prime Minister was informed that a linear gas pedal Elekta Versa HD, which is designed for radiation therapy of a new generation, was installed here. The device is characterized by high precision. As doctors note, it allows to treat tumors of any localization and any configuration.

In addition, the center is equipped with other modern equipment, including CT, magnetic resonance tomography, digital mammography, X-ray, ultrasound, etc.

Alikhan Smailov emphasized that the opening of a modern oncology center in the region is very timely - it will allow for early diagnosis of cancer diseases and ensure their timely treatment.

"The region has an additional need for new district hospitals and paramedic stations. The Ministry of Health together with the Akimat should work out the issue of their construction, including within the framework of the implementation of the relevant National Project," he pointed out.
