Head of the Government Olzhas Bektenov familiarized himself with the industrial development of Abay region. Domestic enterprises were visited, in particular, plants for production of packaging materials, cement and machine-building production.

Olzhas Bektenov toured the production facilities of Kazpoligraf LLP. The oldest plant with 83-year history produces almost all types of packaging for the food industry. The volume of annual production is about 35.5 thousand tons of various types of paper and cardboard containers, pressed and packaging products from polymer films. The entire range is in wide demand among Kazakhstani food producers and is also exported to neighboring countries.

"Our plant has been operating since 1941, with more than 700 people working here. We produce packaging materials, corrugated boxes, labels for the food industry and other products. We use such materials as film, parchment, foil, ecoline. We supply our products to Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan,” Kairat Omargaliyev said, Director for Foreign Economy of Kazpoligraf LLP.

Prime Minister was familiarized with the products of local producers, providing food security of the region and the republic as a whole. Abay region fully covers its own needs in vegetables, flour, pasta and meat products (for beef - by 229%, for poultry meat - by 151%). Last year the region increased production of meat by 3% (up to 83.8 thousand tons) and dairy products - by 2.4% (289.6 thousand tons).

In addition, Prime Minister visited “PK Cement Plant Semey” LLP, built in 1958. Since 2016, the enterprise has taken a course for full modernization. It has purchased its own fleet of railcars, introduced new lines to increase production capacity, implemented environmental projects to replace the electrostatic precipitators of two kilns with modern high-efficiency dust-collecting equipment. The capacity of the plant is 1,150 thousand tons of cement per year. The products are sold in the Kazakhstan market and exported abroad.

"We emphasize the production of medium and high value-added goods. But at the same time we should not forget about the enterprises that provide us with basic materials, such as cement, concrete and reinforced concrete products, which are used everywhere. This year the Government has set a task to build a record 18 million square meters of housing. This will lead to an increase in demand for construction materials. “Cement Plant Semey” is one of the backbone enterprises and a responsible representative of business, providing social assistance to the city. The Government will provide all necessary measures of support to such enterprises,” Olzhas Bektenov emphasized.

Prime Minister also visited the machine-building plant “SemAZ” LLP and Semipalatinsk machine-building plant. Head of the Government was reported on the current activities and further plans for the development of technological lines of the enterprises.

For reference: The volume of industrial production in Abay region in January-June this year amounted to 895.7 billion tenge, increasing compared to the same indicator last year (673.6 billion tenge in 2023). The share of industry in GRP (gross regional product) for 3 months amounted to 41%. Also in the current year in the region increased the number of people employed in industry - 26.5 thousand people.
