Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov and Secretary General of OPEC (The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) Haitham Al-Ghais discussed the current situation in the world oil market and topical issues of cooperation.
Prime Minister noted the important role of OPEC in ensuring the sustainability of the world oil market. Coordinated actions of oil producers and exporters within the framework of OPEC+ help to mitigate possible negative consequences and stabilise the situation in the market.
"Kazakhstan is committed to further co-operation within the framework of OPEC+. We support the organisation's initiatives, accept restrictions along with other countries, including on current voluntary commitments," Olzhas Bektenov stressed.
Haitham Al-Ghais noted the significant role of Kazakhstan in the global oil market and emphasised the impact of measures taken in the country to ensure balance in the oil market.
As a result of the meeting Olzhas Bektenov and Haitham Al-Ghais confirmed their intention to continue successful and productive co-operation.
For reference: Kazakhstan has been a party to the OPEC+ Agreement since 2016. Oil production in the country is carried out by more than 90 subsoil users.
