At a Government session chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, issues of digitalization in the railway sector were considered. Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev delivered a report.
According to the Minister, the main directions within the framework of digital transformation are the transition to electronic format, reengineering of business processes, creation of an innovation ecosystem, provision of trains with OneWeb and Starlink satellite internet, as well as the introduction of an online transit cargo tracking system.
In 2024, four public services were available in the sector, all in electronic format. This year, a new service has been added – “Issuance of a Safety Certificate.” Over the past year, more than 28,000 public services were provided, of which about 99% were delivered online.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of digitalizing the industry through the introduction of automated management systems, digital dispatching, and integration of information systems.
“Recently in Astana, with the participation of the Head of State, a supercomputer cluster was launched, capable of generating a large array of data and producing high-quality analytics. In this context, it is important to note that artificial intelligence technologies and promising startups should be introduced in all sectors of the economy, including the railway industry. For example, artificial intelligence can calculate potential risks of accidents, track wear and tear of railway infrastructure and rolling stock, and develop solutions to address such issues,” Olzhas Bektenov noted.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of a comprehensive approach to managing IT infrastructure and integrating information systems in the process of digitalizing the railway industry.
