Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov discussed with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Julie Stufft, issues of further development of trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as collaboration in the fields of digitalization and artificial intelligence, and the space sector.
The parties reviewed the progress in implementing the agreements reached following the visit of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the United States.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov noted that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to Washington last November clearly demonstrated the scale of economic partnership between the two countries. The signing of 29 agreements worth a total of $17 billion provided a strong impetus to the expansion of economic ties. The Government of Kazakhstan attaches high priority to the implementation of these agreements.
“Kazakhstan–U.S. cooperation is developing dynamically today. It is based on strong relations between the leaders of our countries, whose strategic vision gives a practical character to our joint work. We expect that close dialogue at the highest political level will continue to create favorable conditions for deepening trade and economic relations between our countries,” emphasized Olzhas Bektenov.
“Unprecedented relations have been established between our countries. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has expressed a clear position regarding President Donald Trump’s initiatives on the Council of Peace and the Abraham Accords. These are all historic and groundbreaking initiatives. The United States and President Trump are grateful to Kazakhstan for its support,” Julie Stufft noted.
In 2025, bilateral trade turnover between the two countries reached $3.19 billion, and in January–February 2026 it amounted to $487.4 million. The importance of the United States as one of the key strategic investors in Kazakhstan’s economy was highlighted. Currently, more than 600 companies with American participation are successfully operating in the country. The presence on the Kazakh market of such companies as Chevron, ExxonMobil, Amazon, Citi, Wabtec, John Deere, Boeing, Oracle, PepsiCo, and Mars confirms the high potential of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
During the meeting, attention was also paid to the implementation of the provisions of the new Constitution, which has laid the foundation for further reforms and the modernization of the public administration system. Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov emphasized that the Basic Law strengthens political stability and creates a solid foundation for the progressive development of the state and society.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening trade and economic partnership, as well as to the implementation of joint projects in priority areas.
