The meeting of the Republican headquarters for the coordination of flood control measures and elimination of consequences of floods with the participation of heads of regional headquarters in the selector mode was held in Aktobe region under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov.

On 2 April 2024, Deputy Prime Minister - Deputy Head of the Republican Headquarters for coordination of flood control measures and elimination of consequences of the flood period Kanat Bozumbayev made a working visit to Kostanay region. In particular, he familiarised himself with the situation in Amangeldinsky, Zhangeldinsky districts and Arkalyk city, where the state of emergency has been declared.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation during floods provides safe operation of hydraulic structures to regulate river flow and passage of flood and melt water to downstream, as well as accumulation of the design volume of water in reservoirs. This was announced by the head of the department Nurzhan Nurzhigitov at the Government session chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov.
Since the beginning of the flood period, 66 cases of overflow have been registered on the republican motorways. Now in 5 regions there are overflows on 5 roads with a length of 980 metres, in connection with which the restriction of traffic on 6 roads with a length of 410 km has been introduced. As the Minister of Transport Marat Karabayev noted, round-the-clock monitoring of flood-prone areas and road structures is carried out.
The current flood situation in the country was considered at the Government session chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov. Reports on the topic were made by the Ministers of Ecology and Natural Resources, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations and Akims of the regions.
The flood situation in Karaganda region was inspected by Deputy Prime Minister – Deputy Head of the Republican Headquarters for coordination of flood control measures and elimination of consequences of the flood period Kanat Bozumbayev and Minister for Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov.
The main task of the Headquarters is to coordinate activities to carry out flood control measures and ensure the safety of citizens.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov heard a report of the Minister for Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov in the Crisis Management Centre of the Ministry for Emergency Situations. In the videoconference mode were connected territorial emergency departments.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov arrived on a working visit to North Kazakhstan region to familiarise himself with the progress of execution of the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Within the framework of the programme he will visit objects of communal and energy sector and road infrastructure, as well as a number of enterprises of light and processing industry, including agricultural machinery.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov in the working order heard reports of First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, Minister for Emergency Situations Chingis Arinov, akims of individual regions.
The current flood situation in the country today is relatively stable. At the same time, according to the preliminary forecast of Kazhydromet JSC, at the end of February and in March in the south-eastern, northern and central parts of the country may fall heavy precipitation with a monthly norm per day.
