On the current flood situation in the regions and measures to protect settlements from flooding told the Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations Bauyrzhan Syzdykov at the Government session of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the Government session chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reports of Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations Bauyrzhan Syzdykov, akims of western regions, as well as North Kazakhstan region on flood control measures were heard.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting on the issue of compensation to citizens affected by floods. The reports of the Minister of Finance Madi Takayev, Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev, regional akims were heard.
In the West Kazakhstan region strengthened measures to protect the facilities of life support systems. In particular, in Uralsk, a set of flood control measures was organised at the facilities of Batys su Arnasy LLP, Zhaiykteploenergo JSC, as well as at the pumping station.
In West Kazakhstan region measures are being taken to prevent large-scale flooding. The grouping of forces concentrated in the region for flood control works exceeded 6.3 thousand people.
The average price index for social food products in the Republic of Kazakhstan decreased by 0.1% during the week. The key role in this was played by regional stabfonds, which began to form stocks of products since last year instead of purchasing socially important food products under ‘revolving schemes’.

In general, the flood situation remains difficult across the country. 3,698 private residential houses in 6 regions remain submerged. Overflows continue on 155 road sections. 88 road washouts, including 4 bridges, are under control. 58 settlements are without transport communication, food and medicines are being delivered.
In Atyrau, an off-site meeting of the Republican Headquarters for coordination of flood control measures and elimination of flood consequences was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. The leadership of ministries and regional akimats was connected in the videoconference mode.
As part of the work on flood control, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar together with Akim of North Kazakhstan region Gauez Nurmukhambetov inspected the dams of Teplichnoye village and Kozhevenny settlement, pumping station of the 1st and 2nd lift of drinking water of Kyzylzhar Su LLP.
On the instructions of the Head of State, Olzhas Bektenov, Prime Minister, the Head of the Republican Headquarters for coordination of flood control measures and elimination of consequences of the flood period, checked the current situation in Atyrau region. The territory was overflighted, the progress of bank protection works was inspected.
